Best universities tend to select students with high potential to success rather than cultivating student to succeed. If you can secretly find out your kid pass an interview to harvard, then send him to any cheaper university (but good one) instead. Only benefit of top universities like Harvard is that you have easier access to employment of fortune 500 company. But it’s counter-intuitive for parents to think this way especially they only want the best for their kids, they have nothing to regret if they do their best and the result doesn’t turn out their way.
