Are you saving education fund for your children to study tertiary education oversea? Or your child is almost ready to further her study at a foreign country? If you want to know how much does it cost to send your kids oversea for tertiary education, this video is going to provide a lot of information you are looking for.
During the webinar I hosted with Evanna Phoon, featuring Mr. CK Chiau (founder of MyStudy.my), Mr. CK shared with us his experience of helping many students to get into oversea universities and colleges. You can watch the short video below about the study cost at Singapore, Australia, USA, UK and Ireland.
This is what he shared with us:
In Malaysia, tuition fees in private college or university is not really cheap. The fees per year can easily cost RM20,000 to RM35,000 per year. While living cost in Malaysia would be approximately RM10,000 to RM25,000 per year. The living cost will be relatively lower as compared to overseas as majority will be staying in their own home and only incur for transportation and food allowances. The advantage of studying in a local university is that one can continue to stay near to home and in comparison will be cheaper.
A Singapore university tuition fees would be approximately RM22,000 to RM50,000 per year. And living cost would be RM30,000 to RM35,000 per year as renting a room in Singapore is quite expensive. However, Singapore is still very near to home for Malaysians.
While in Australia, it would be the most expensive among all. Tuition fees would require RM65k to RM80k per year and living cost would be RM40k – RM60k. In total, RM105k – RM140k is required per year to study in Australia. Many Malaysians are studying in Australia, in addition to it many people from China are also going to Australia to further their studies.
US has a lot of choices in terms of universities. In comparison to Australia, US is still not very expensive due to the exchange rate. Tuition fees in US can be as low as RM40k up to RM100k or more and living expenses would be in the range of RM30k – RM50k.
Lastly, UK & Ireland would cost a total of RM57k – RM95k. UK and Ireland are being bucket in the same category as they are very near to each other. UK is not very expensive, same goes for Ireland. The tuition fees for both are almost similar except for the difference in currency used which will be approximately RM 32k to RM60k per year. Many prefer UK as UK is famous while Ireland do not require visa and would be 25% cheaper due to the exchange rate.
With this, you will have estimation on the budget required if you would like to study overseas or planning to send your children to study overseas.
