Undeniably, money is needed to fulfil our necessities. When we need to buy something, we spend money and get the possession of it. We can buy all the tangible assets using the money. What about the intangible ones?
Can we buy intangibles using money?
The answer is “No”.
We can’t buy them with money. Suppose you’re to go on a vacation. You can purchase the air tickets using the money. You can pay for fares. You can even buy an aircraft.
Can you buy fun and enjoyment? Can you buy great memories with your loved ones? Can you purchase the feeling you’re going to have when you see picturesque sceneries? Can you? No. No. No.
You can buy all the stuff using the money, and you can even purchase the experiences. But great feelings, emotions, relationships, memories, trust and happiness can’t be bought by money alone. It’s because these are priceless, it needs your other commitment to be possessed.
Relationship
Money can’t buy you a great relationship. If you think that you’ll give a hefty amount to a guy and tell him to be your friend, he won’t be. Friendship isn’t done forcefully. Friendship is mutual understanding.
The guy will just understand money. If he agrees to be your friend, the reason is money.
If you pay a girl a million dollars and tell her to be your girlfriend, she’ll not be. Even if she does, then the reason is money and not because she too wants to have a relationship with you. She wants a relationship with your bank balance, your credit cards and your wealth.
You can’t buy love. Love happens. So, money can’t offer you close relationships.
Happiness
Happiness is something that everyone wants. Everybody wants to be happy. You can’t buy happiness using a credit card. It’s a feeling – intangible and priceless. Happiness is felt, not bought.
Have you ever seen anyone selling happiness? They can’t. How can they? You can feel happy by doing the things you like or by being with the people you love. Suppose that you love pepperoni pizza. You can buy a large pepperoni pizza.
Can you purchase the amazing feeling you have when you enjoy the yummy mouth-watering pizza, and skip eating the pizza? The answer is a big NO. So, money can’t even buy true happiness.
Trust
Trust means that someone can confide in you. You can’t force a person to trust you. You cannot even buy trust. Trust is to be earned. You can just earn trust. Buying is not an option. If you tell a person, “Tell me your secrets, I won’t tell anyone. Trust me.” He won’t be convinced. Then you’ll say, “OK. Take this hundred dollar note and share your secrets with me now”. He will stare at you scornfully. He will never share his secrets with you. Even trust is not to be bought.
Conclusion
To conclude, relationships are made, not bought. Happiness is felt, not bought. Trust is earned, not bought. These things are not saleable. You might say that everything has got a price tag. I agree that you can pay a substantial amount to get some form of relationship, happiness and even trust. But beware that you will be getting the “fake product”.
So never consider buying them because you simply cannot. These are the things money can’t buy.
