Q & ACategory: OthersReimbursement – Income Tax
Anonymous asked 9 years ago

I had recently quit Company C and joined company M. Due to notice-in-lieu, there was a buyout of 1.5 month that I paid first on behalf of new employer, with agreement that I would be eligible for full claim later.
I have a question regarding Malaysian Income Tax. I don’t agree that IRB advised Company M that the buyout reimbursement is subject to income tax deduction. The reason given by IRB is that the reimbursement is an ‘income’ to me.
Is there a higher authority that I could escalate my case to, as I could’t accept the verdict presented by IRB?
Thanks in advance.
