For many decades, traditional unit trust funds have offered many benefits over constructing a portfolio one stock at a time. However, in recent years, Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) take the advantages of pooled investment to the next level.

Consider these, comparing ETFs to Unit Trusts:

• ETFs has lower operating costs (because you can trade it like a stock, and don’t require agency-based salesforce)
• Trading flexibility (UTs trade after market close, based on the NAV when everything is close. ETFs trade real-time on the stock market)

As a result, you could get exposure to a specific market quickly at the lowest cost possible. In the advanced countries, most people are investing passively through owning a diversified portfolio of ETFs.
