“I have a medical card. Do I still need critical illness (CI) insurance?”

Let’s examine.

Assuming one has a medical card but CI insurance.

Years later, he is diagnosed with CI. If he requires to be hospitalised, who pays for his hospital bills?

His medical card.

How about supplementary health care after being discharged from hospital?

Hmm … not sure.

If he requires years to be treated, will he continue to earn income during this period? If there is no income, how will he pay for his mortgage, car loans, and put food on his table? Will his medical card pay for all these things?

Nope.

That’s a big difference between a medical card and a CI insurance.

But still, there are more to be discussed.

Here, KC Chong, Managing Director and Founder of SAC Wealth Management Sdn Bhd, explains the following:

1. What are the differences between CI vs Medical Insurance?
2. Why is Critical Illness (CI) Insurance Important?
3. How Much CI Coverage Do You Need?
4. Traditional CI vs Multi-Payout CI
5. When is the best time to start a CI Plan?
