The Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA) is the most benefited region fueled by high oil revenue. In the recent years, MENA provide high potential for investors because:

  • high oil revenues has driven the economic growth
  • increasing foreign direct investment
  • infrastructure and tourism facilities being build and encouraged by government

Therefore, CIMB launched the CIMB-Principal MENA Equity Fund which feeds into the Ocean Fund/Equities MENA Opportunities, by Societe Generale Asset Management.

Up to 98% of the NAV will be invested in equities or securities of companies principally established and listed in the MENA region. The targeted fund invest in company such as Emaar Properties (Dubai), First Gulf Bank (UAE), Qatar Navigation and many more profitable companies.

Annual Management Fee: 1.8%
Trustee Fee: 0.08%
Application Fee (IUTA): 5.5%
Application Fee (Agency): 6.5%
Withdrawal Fee (chargeable within 6 months from the commencement date): 1%

This fund is NOT eligible for investor using EPF money.

SInce the oil market is slowly decreasing nowadays, I have also get in to trouble regarding this investment. So, what do you think about it?Any suggestions?Do I have to invest in the MENA again to cover the lost in the investment since the NAV is low right now?
